Happy Father's Day! June 20, 2010
Invention Camp June 18th, 2010

Joseph had a blast with his week of invention camp. He spent time brainstorming ideas, conceptualizing and constructing inventions. The kids ran a business, made creatures that moved with a battery, and created a new sports game. Joseph's big project was a personal invention. He used the motor from an old dvd player to make it a machine. He came up with a SLAP A DAP, a machine that twirls around with a swatter to kill wasps since we were having a wasp problem at our home. He actually began the idea of a slap-a-dap as a way to solve the problem of school bullies--slapping them we thought might not help the situation so we tweaked it to help solve a wasp problem at home. It did, however, make us smile that he was trying to combat injustice! One day Joseph got to choose a superhero and dress-up. He came up with Mr. Electricity, putting lightning on his cape and shirt and headband. The younger boys insisted on wearing their capes into the school with Joseph that day--too cute!

Savanna Opening Day!!!!

Arrived at the Dallas Zoo this morning, to journey through the Savanna on its opening day. It was well worth the wait to park--we got to pet a giraffe, spy out the cheetahs, watch the elephants eat bamboo, and to awake the sleeping warthog with our loud Pumba calls. We love being zoo members, today we rode the monorail and it was cool! We also had fun in the butterfly exhibit, searching out the different species. And, of course, the boys excitedly took turns petting yet another python. We ended with petting the farm animals--which brought more smiles from our little fellas.
The day of the BIG Hershey bar.
May 14th--Joseph's motivation for attending his recital this year, was not a performance factor, merely a love of finally receiving his 1st big chocolate bar for summer practice hours. And, by the way, he played Whiz Goes the train brilliantly, we were very proud of him, especially beaming grandparents!
